Things to Do

Medjugorje is a pilgrimage village and the things to do reflect that. The fixed points are St. James' Church at the centre, Apparition Hill above Bijakovici where the original visions were reported, and Cross Mountain on the far side of the village topped by its giant 1934 concrete cross.

Around these, smaller stops have grown into the standard circuit: the Risen Christ statue behind St. James' with its unexplained weeping; the Blue Cross at the foot of Apparition Hill; and a Friday evening at the Cenacolo Community house, where former drug addicts share their stories of recovery. Most pilgrims do all of these over three or four days, with quiet hours for prayer in between.
