Zvornik's most accessible sight is Zvornik Fortress, a medieval stronghold on the hill above town that was expanded by the Ottomans and offers good views over the Drina valley. Below the city, Zvornik Lake — an artificial reservoir created by a dam on the Drina — provides a green, quiet stretch of riverbank that is popular with local fishermen and weekend visitors.
Zvornik is not a place to visit for cheerful tourism: the town's recent history is deeply marked by the 1992 war crimes. Travelers coming through should do so with awareness. The municipality's war crimes memorial sites are maintained and accessible to those who wish to pay their respects.
