Getting Around

Čiovo is small enough that a bike covers most of it in a morning. A single road runs the length of the island from the Trogir bridge through Žedno and out to Okrug Gornji, with smaller lanes dropping down to the coast at various points. Cyclists will find it manageable outside the heat of the day, though the central ridge road climbs steeply enough to work up a sweat.

Scooter and bike hire is available in Okrug Gornji. A scooter gives you the most freedom and is the recommended option if you want to explore the whole island, including the quieter north coast villages of Mastrinka and Slatine.

By car, the road from Trogir to Okrug Gornji takes about fifteen minutes. Parking is available in Okrug Gornji though in July and August spots go quickly. In peak season, leaving the car in Trogir and cycling or scootering across the bridge is more relaxed.

For the north coast, Slatine is reachable by the catamaran from Split — a useful option if you are spending the day on that end of the island. Local taxis operate across Čiovo but are sporadic in winter.
