The restaurant strip in Okrug Gornji runs back from the beach and along the main road through the village. Most places cater to the summer beach crowd with broad menus of grilled fish, pizza, and pasta, and quality varies considerably. The best strategy is to walk a couple of streets back from the beachfront where rents are lower and the cooking tends to be more careful.
Look for places advertising fresh local fish on a chalkboard rather than a laminated tourist menu with photographs. Grilled dentex (zubatac) and squid (lignje) are good choices when available. Many restaurants close by early October and reopen in May; the ones that stay open year-round are often the most reliable, since they are serving locals rather than tourists.
