Eating Out

Rovinj has excellent food rooted in Istrian cuisine — a hybrid of Croatian and Italian influences that makes heavy use of truffles, olive oil, fresh seafood, and locally made wine. The best places cluster around the old town and along the harbour. In high summer, reservations are essential at the better restaurants.

Istrian specialities to look for include fuži (hand-rolled pasta tubes) with truffle sauce, pljukanci (hand-rolled pasta) with game, and fresh grilled fish straight from the morning catch. The local olive oil from Istria is exceptional.
