Caffe Riva is one of the Riva promenade's better-positioned cafes, with a terrace that looks north across the strait toward the mainland. The coffee is competent and the view is excellent: palms, moored boats, and the low hills beyond. It is the kind of place that works best for the first coffee of the morning or a late-afternoon aperitivo before dinner.
The menu runs from espresso and cappuccino through cold drinks and a short cocktail list. In summer the tables fill up by mid-morning; arrive before ten to have the pick of the waterfront seats. The staff are efficient without being rushed, which suits the unhurried Dalmatian approach to cafe culture.
