Day Trips

Trogir's position between Split and Šibenik, and its proximity to Split Airport, makes it a natural base for exploring the central Dalmatian coast. Split is 27 km east and easily reached by bus 37 from the stop near Trogir's bridge in about half an hour; the old town inside Diocletian's Palace is one of the great historical quarters of the Adriatic. Šibenik, with its UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James, lies about 50 km to the north, roughly an hour away by coach.

A short ride beyond Šibenik brings you to Krka National Park, an extensive series of travertine waterfalls and pools. The boardwalk through the Skradinski Buk cascade is one of the most dramatic short walks in Croatia, and many visitors combine the park with a morning in Šibenik's old town for a full day out. Organised tours from Trogir and Split run throughout the summer.

The islands of Brač and Hvar are accessible by ferry from Split, making them feasible as long day trips for those based in Trogir. The Zlatni Rat beach near Bol on Brač, one of the most photographed in Croatia, is about two hours from Trogir by bus and ferry combined.
