Bosut Riverside Park

The Bosut river runs through the northern part of Vinkovci, and the tree-lined riverside park along its banks offers the town's best walking and cycling. On summer evenings, locals gather here for strolls, and the cafes overlooking the water fill up. It is a thoroughly relaxed, un-touristy scene.

The park is also a pleasant starting point for a longer walk into the flat agricultural landscape surrounding the town. Slavonia is notably flat — this is the old Pannonian basin — and the light over the fields in the late afternoon can be striking. Fishermen work the Bosut year-round; it holds pike, carp, and catfish.
