The Chapel on the Mountain of the Cross stands on the slope east of Cesky Krumlov, reached by a short but real climb from the old town. The chapel itself is simple, but the setting is the point: from the hillside you can look back over the castle tower, the Vltava bends, and the tight red roofs below.
It is a good antidote to the busiest lanes in the centre. Go early or late, when the light is softer and the tour groups are still down in town, and the walk feels like a small pilgrimage rather than just a photo stop.
