Getting Around

The historical centre of Plzeň is compact and best explored on foot. The main sights — Republic Square, the cathedral, the underground tunnels, the Great Synagogue — are all within 10 minutes of each other. The Pilsner Urquell Brewery is about 15 minutes on foot east of the square, or a short ride on tram lines 1, 2, or 4 toward the Prazdroj stop.

Plzeň has a reliable tram and trolleybus network operated by PMDP. A single ticket costs around 28 CZK (about €1.20); a 24-hour pass is good value at around 110 CZK. Tickets can be bought at machines at major stops or via the PMDP app. Taxis and ride-share apps (Bolt is most used) are cheap by Western standards. Cycling is possible but the centre is heavily pedestrianised.
