Plzeň punches above its weight for a city of 170,000. The brewery complex alone is worth the trip, but Republic Square, the Gothic cathedral, and a medieval underground network give you two or three days of solid sightseeing. Plzeň was the 2015 European Capital of Culture, which left behind upgraded galleries and a still-active arts scene.
