Pivnice Prazdroj

Pivnice Prazdroj is a traditional Czech pub a few steps from Republic Square, the kind of place where you can drink a well-kept Pilsner Urquell without the tourist prices of the brewery restaurant. The interior is dark wood, long tables, and the smell of hops — nothing has changed here in decades and that is the whole point.

The food is pub Czech: fried cheese (smažený sýr), pork knee (vepřové koleno), pickled sausage (utopenci). The beer is the draw. This is where Plzeň residents actually drink — you will hear Czech at every table and have to queue for a seat at weekends. Cash is strongly preferred. Open from mid-afternoon on weekdays, from noon on weekends.
