Hillerød is the northern terminus of Copenhagen's S-train line A, making it among the easiest day trips from the capital. Trains run frequently throughout the day and the journey from Copenhagen Central Station takes around 45 minutes. The station is a short walk from the castle entrance. By car, Hillerød is well signposted from the E47 motorway north of Copenhagen.
