A few kilometres south of the old town, the Ribe Viking Centre is the living-history counterpart to Ribes Vikinger — a full reconstruction of a Viking-era market, complete with longhouses, a manor hall, ramparts, a falconer, a smithy and a working farmhouse. Staff in period dress demonstrate weaving, leatherwork, iron casting and Viking-era cooking. There is a daily archery demonstration and, in high season, mock combat training.
It is genuinely well done — not Disney, not academic. Children love it; so do adults willing to ask the smith about iron grades. Open daily May–October, with shorter spring/autumn hours; closed in winter. Allow at least three hours.
