Rønne sits in the south-west of Bornholm and the island's main attractions are spread around its perimeter — the round churches (Østerlars, Nylars, Olsker, Nyker), the smoked-fish villages of the east coast (Gudhjem, Svaneke, Allinge), the Hammeren cliffs and Hammershus castle ruins in the north, and the Almindingen forest in the centre. All are reachable as a half- or full-day trip by bus, car or bike.
For something more adventurous, Christiansø — the tiny rocky outpost off Bornholm's north-east coast that is technically not part of any Danish municipality — is a long but rewarding day from Rønne by bus and ferry from Gudhjem.
