Silkeborg is well connected to the Danish rail network. Regular trains run from Aarhus (about 45 minutes) and from Copenhagen (around 2 hours 30 minutes, sometimes with a change). The railway station is centrally located, a short walk from Torvet and the main sights.
By car, Silkeborg sits on the E45 motorway that runs north-south through Jutland, making it easy to reach from Aarhus, Viborg, or Herning. Copenhagen to Silkeborg is about three hours by road.
Buses connect Silkeborg with other towns in central Jutland including Herning and Viborg.
