Getting There

Hanko sits about 130 kilometres west of Helsinki at the end of a long peninsula. By car it's a comfortable 90-minute drive on the E18 motorway followed by Route 25 south. By train, the line from Helsinki via Karjaa runs several times daily and takes about two hours; Hanko has two stations (Hanko and Hanko-Pohjoinen) — both are central to the small town.

There is also a small summer ferry service across the Gulf of Finland to Rohuküla in Estonia (foot passengers, infrequent). The nearest airport is Helsinki (HEL).
