Messila Ski Centre is Lahti's main nearby downhill-skiing and outdoor resort, set on the slopes west of the city above Lake Vesijarvi. In winter it offers the easiest alpine-style skiing option for visitors staying in Lahti, a city otherwise best known for ski jumps and Nordic sports.
Outside peak winter, the resort area still works as a lake-and-hill excursion, though the travel value is strongest when the slopes are operating. It pairs naturally with Lahti's ski-jump heritage, giving visitors a participatory counterpart to the stadium views.
