A French Surfing Federation school sitting between the Atlantic and the Dune du Pilat, which is about as good an address as a surf school gets. Group lessons are capped at eight and run two hours for around €40, with board, leash and wetsuit included.
When the ocean is unmanageable — which happens — they switch to the bay side and run stand-up paddle outings at the mouth of the basin, between the Banc d'Arguin and the dune, in flat water with the whole thing in view. Boards, bodyboards, paddleboards and wetsuits are also hired out on their own.
Cash or cheque only; there is no card machine.
