Église Saint-Pierre is the oldest surviving building in Royan, with origins in the 11th century. It has been damaged, repaired, rebuilt, and altered so often that it reads less as a single pure style than as a record of the town's rough history.
It is quieter than Notre-Dame de Royan, but worth a look if you want to see the older layer of a city better known for its post-war concrete architecture.
