The bar of the village auberge doubles as the only social space in Mailly-le-Château after dark. Local farmers stop in for a pastis before lunch; cyclists rest here in the afternoon. The wine list is short but honest: a Bourgogne blanc by the glass, Epineuil rouge, and Chablis if you want to spend a little more. There is nothing flashy about the place, which is the point.
