La Grignotière

A reliable, unpretentious French restaurant in the old town, a short walk from the cathedral. The menu follows the seasons and leans on local ingredients: duck confit from the Seine-et-Marne, fresh-water fish from the Marne, and a Brie de Meaux that arrives at the table in proper condition — runny at room temperature, never straight from a refrigerator. The prix-fixe lunch menu represents excellent value; the evening à la carte runs to more substantial dishes and a decent wine list strong on Loire and Burgundy. Booking ahead is advisable at weekends.
