The Perret city centre is compact and best explored on foot — from the Église Saint-Joseph to the MuMa waterfront is about 25 minutes' walk. The grid layout makes orientation straightforward: Avenue Foch points west to the sea, the station is at the eastern end of the centre.
By bus and tram: Le Havre has a tram network (line A and B) and an extensive bus network operated by LIA. Trams run east–west along the southern edge of the city centre; tickets are valid across tram and bus. A one-day pass is good value if you plan to visit Graville Abbey or the docks area.
By funicular: The Funiculaire du Havre (free) links the lower city to the clifftop plateau in three minutes. Useful for reaching the upper residential neighbourhoods and the views over the estuary.
By bike: The city has a reasonable cycling infrastructure and a self-service bike scheme (Le Vélo). The flat terrain of the Perret district is bike-friendly; the climb to the plateau less so.
By taxi: Taxis are available at the station and at stands near the ferry terminal. Ride-hailing apps also operate.
