Quimper rewards a slow wander. The old town — half-timbered houses tilting over the Odet and Steir rivers, the twin spires of the cathedral above it all — is one of Brittany's most intact medieval centres. Add in some excellent museums and a lively cultural scene rooted in Breton identity, and you can fill a couple of days easily.
