Fish Market (Marché aux Poissons)

The covered fish market on the Quai Fernand Moureaux is the heart of Trouville and one of the best places in Normandy to eat fresh seafood without sitting down in a restaurant. Oysters, langoustines, whelks, crabs, and lobsters are sold from the stalls by the kilo; many vendors will open them on the spot and hand you a tray to eat at the quayside tables.

It runs every day of the year, though the selection is biggest in the morning. Combine a tray of oysters and a glass of Muscadet from one of the seafood bars next door for one of the cheapest good lunches on the Normandy coast.

A story
Trouville was a working fishing village long before it was a resort; the boats still tie up next to the market each morning. Many of the families behind the stalls have been selling fish on this quay for four or five generations, and the prices on the board are still set by what came in that morning.
