Getting There

By air: Tbilisi International Airport (TBS) is about 18 km east of the city centre. It connects to most major European hubs (Frankfurt, Istanbul, Vienna, Warsaw, Amsterdam, London) as well as the Gulf and the broader former-Soviet region. The journey from the airport to the centre takes 30–40 minutes by taxi, which costs 25–35 GEL by meter. There is also a regular express train service from the airport to the central railway station.

By train: Night trains run to Yerevan (about 9–12 hours) and daytime services to Batumi on the Black Sea coast (about 5 hours). The main railway station is at Didube, accessible by metro from the city centre.

By bus/marshrutka: Minibuses (marshrutkas) to all parts of Georgia depart from Didube bus station. International bus services run to Istanbul (around 20 hours), Yerevan, and Baku.

By road: The Georgian Military Highway north via the Dariali Gorge crosses into Russia at Lars. The border is open but occasionally closes for security reasons. Roads to Armenia and Azerbaijan are straightforward.
