Warteck sits in the corner of the Marktplatz arcades and has been one of Freudenstadt's reliable mid-priced restaurants for decades. The cooking is traditional Swabian-Black Forest: Maultaschen, Spätzle with venison sauce, trout from the Murg, schnitzel in several variations, and a good selection of regional wines. Mains run €18–28.
The dining room is heavily wood-panelled in the regional style; the terrace under the arcade is the better seat in summer. Booking is sensible at weekends, especially in spa season. Address: Stuttgarter Strasse 14, on the north side of the Marktplatz.
