Freudenstadt eats traditionally Swabian: Maultaschen (Swabian ravioli), Spätzle, Schwarzwälder Schinken (Black Forest ham), and trout from the surrounding rivers and ponds. The arcades around the Marktplatz are the easiest place to start — every second arch has a cafe or restaurant terrace under it. For something more memorable head out to Baiersbronn 10km north, which has more Michelin-starred restaurants per capita than anywhere else in Germany.
