☰Parkwald

The Parkwald is a large nature preserve that begins at the southern edge of town and extends into the Black Forest proper. It is threaded with marked walking trails ranging from easy family loops to longer routes that connect with the ridge paths toward the Schwarzwald Hochstrasse. The forest is dense mixed woodland — spruce, fir, beech — and at this altitude the air is noticeably different from the valley. Pick up a trail map from the tourist office on the Marktplatz before you head in.
