Eating Out

Würzburg's food culture is tied closely to its wine. The traditional Weinstube — a dark-panelled wine bar that also serves food — is the right place for a full meal: expect hearty Franconian dishes like Sauerbraten (marinated roast beef), Schäufele (roasted pork shoulder), and Bratwurst with sauerkraut. The local bread dumplings (Klöße) are excellent. The Juliusspital estate runs a good vinothek. The market square area has the highest concentration of restaurants and cafes.
