Cottbus Hauptbahnhof is well connected by rail. Direct trains to Berlin take just under two hours; trains to Dresden and Leipzig take roughly two hours via Hoyerswerda or Finsterwalde. Regional trains connect to Lübbenau and other Spreewald towns in about 30 minutes.
By car, the A15 motorway connects Cottbus to Berlin (1.5 hours) via the A12. The Polish border at Forst is about 25 kilometres east. There is no commercial airport at Cottbus; Berlin Brandenburg Airport is the nearest international gateway.
