Oranienburg's main draw is its memorial sites, which together form one of the most significant concentrations of 20th-century history anywhere in Germany. The Sachsenhausen concentration camp and the Museum Sowjetisches Speziallager document both the Nazi and Soviet periods of the same grounds. Away from the memorial, Oranienburg Palace and the Schlosspark along the Havel offer a contrast — Baroque architecture and riverside greenery that predate the 20th century by nearly three hundred years.
