A tranquil botanical garden attached to the university, with collections covering Central European flora, Mediterranean plants, and a series of greenhouses for tropical and subtropical species. The garden is one of the quieter green spaces in Rostock and popular with locals for a peaceful walk.
Not as large or spectacular as the great German botanical gardens, but well maintained and genuinely relaxing. The succulent and cactus house is particularly good, and the formal herb garden is worth a look. Free entry makes it an easy add-on to a visit to the zoo, which is nearby.
