Wasserkunst

The Wasserkunst is the ornate old waterworks pavilion in Wismar's Markt, built between 1580 and 1602 to supply drinking water to the town. Its Dutch Renaissance design, copper roof, and German and Latin inscriptions make it one of the square's most distinctive details.

It is a quick stop, but a worthwhile one if you are looking closely at Wismar's Hanseatic old town. See it together with the Markt, Alter Schwede, and the surrounding brick Gothic churches.
