The old town is compact and easily walkable. A bicycle is the ideal way to explore the surrounding wine country — Landau has a good network of cycling paths that connect to the wine villages and the Palatinate Forest. Bike hire is available in town.
For the wine villages and day trips further afield, a car gives the most flexibility. Regional buses connect Landau to the surrounding villages, but services are infrequent and schedules are not designed with tourism in mind.
