Uwe Düne is the highest natural point on Sylt, rising above Kampen's dunes and heath. A wooden stairway leads to the top, where the view opens across the North Sea, the Wadden Sea side of the island, and the long, low profile that makes Sylt feel so exposed to weather and light.
It is a simple sight, but a very good one. On a clear day it gives you the geography of the island in a single glance; on a windy day it gives you Sylt's mood, with marram grass bending and clouds moving fast over the sand.
