The old town is best on foot. Distances are short, the lanes are narrow, and getting mildly lost in the Campiello is part of the point. Wear shoes that can handle polished stone steps and uneven paving.
Blue buses are useful for Mon Repos, Kanoni, the airport, and the port. Taxis gather near the Esplanade and at the port, but inside the old centre walking is usually faster.
