Palaiokastritsa

Rocky bays with clear water, sea caves, and a clifftop monastery

A village on the west coast about 25 km from Corfu Town, set around five rocky bays with exceptionally clear water. A 13th-century monastery on the clifftop above the main bay is still inhabited by monks and open to visitors. The bays below are good for snorkelling and diving, and boat trips from the harbour explore the sea caves in the cliffs. The seafood restaurants on the harbour are among the better ones on the island.
