The strongest concentration of historic sights is in Corfu Town, where the Venetian fortresses, Campiello lanes, Liston, and Saint Spyridon deserve a full day. Outside the capital, the island's best stops are the Achilleion palace south of town, the monastery and cliffs at Palaiokastritsa, Old Perithia in the north, and the classic Pontikonisi view from Kanoni. Beaches range from busy resort strips in the north to quieter coves in the south and west.
