Riniasa Castle is a ruined hilltop fortress on the Ionian side of Epirus, above the old route between Preveza, Parga, and the Albanian mountains. Its value is mostly in the position: from here the castle watched both inland roads and sea approaches.
There is not much polish to the site, so come for the landscape and the sense of strategic geography rather than for a restored monument. It pairs best with other western Epirus stops such as Zalongo, the Acheron area, or the coast around Ammoudia.
