Filiatro Beach

Filiatro is one of the easier beaches to reach from Vathy — a fifteen-minute drive east on a good road. It is a pebble-and-shingle crescent backed by olive trees and dramatic cliffs, with water that is almost unreasonably clear and turquoise.

A small canteen operates in summer for drinks and snacks; otherwise bring what you need. The pebbles are sharp underfoot so swim shoes help. In high season the beach can have a couple of dozen people on it, which counts as crowded by Ithaca standards.
