Frikes

Frikes is the smaller of the two north-coast harbours — a single quay, a handful of houses, three or four tavernas, and that is about it. The setting is genuinely picturesque: a narrow inlet flanked by steep green hillsides, with the village clustered at the head.

Ferries from the mainland (Astakos and sometimes Lefkada) occasionally call here in addition to Vathy and Pisaetos, which is the only reason most travellers pass through. The Penelope and Telegonos taverna at the quay does respectable Greek standards with a sea view. A coastal path leads from Frikes to Kioni in about an hour, a fine walk in the cooler months.
