Katerini's tavernas serve straightforward northern Greek cooking — grilled meats, horiatiki salad, fresh fish from the Thermaic Gulf, plenty of feta, and the wines of the Naoussa and Slopes of Meliton vineyards. The beach villages of Paralia and Olympiaki Akti have the largest concentration of restaurants in summer; the town centre keeps going year-round and is cheaper.
