Getting There

Lamia sits on the main Athens–Thessaloniki axis, making it easy to pass through but easy to miss. Most travellers arrive by road: the E75 motorway runs just east of town, and the journey from Athens takes about two and a half hours. From Thessaloniki it is around three hours.

By train, Lamia is served by the main intercity line. The station sits on the southern edge of town; trains to Athens run several times daily and the journey takes roughly two to two and a half hours. The station is called Stylida–Lamia after a nearby coastal village, and despite the name it is genuinely in Lamia.

KTEL buses connect Lamia to Athens (from the Liossion terminal), Thessaloniki, Volos, and Patras. The bus station is central. For Thermopylae, local buses run south along the main road.
