The Charshi Hamam — "market bath" in Turkish — is one of the best-preserved Ottoman baths in the Greek Aegean. Built in the 15th or 16th century in the heart of the old market quarter, the building retains its original domed roofline with characteristic star-shaped skylights, the signature of Ottoman bath architecture. It functioned as a public bath until the early 20th century. The structure has been restored and is occasionally used for cultural events. Even from the outside, it is one of the most evocative reminders in the city of the four centuries of Ottoman rule that shaped Mytilene's urban fabric.
