Archaeological Museum of Philippi

The Archaeological Museum of Philippi is a small, modern, single-storey building at the entrance to the site, recently renovated and well-presented. Three rooms cover the history of the city from its Macedonian and Roman phases through the early Christian period — sculpture from the forum, inscriptions, oil lamps, glass, and the mosaics taken up from buildings on the site to protect them from weather.

The museum is free with the site ticket and should be done either first or last. The labels are in Greek and English. Allow 45 minutes.
