The Extra Muros Basilica lies outside the main Philippi ruins, about 500 metres from the parking area at Krinides. The early Christian church was part of the wider ancient city complex and was badly damaged by invasions and earthquakes before falling out of use.
It is a small detour rather than the headline sight, but worthwhile if you are already exploring Philippi's basilicas, forum, and theatre.
