Poros rewards slow exploration on foot. The town itself — a tangle of whitewashed lanes climbing from the waterfront to the blue-domed clock tower — is the main attraction. The northern part of the island (Kalaureia) is covered in pine forest and holds the ancient Sanctuary of Poseidon, a remarkable site given what happened there in 322 BC.
The beaches are modest: Askeli on the east coast and Love Bay to the west are the best options, both sandy and calm. The real draw is the atmosphere — summer evenings on the waterfront, ferries passing through the narrow channel, the Peloponnese close enough to touch.
