Lindos Main Beach

Lindos's main sandy beach curves north from the village, protected from open-sea swells by the headland. The water is clear and the setting, with the Acropolis towering above the village behind, is exceptionally photogenic. Sunbeds, umbrellas, a beach bar, and watersports equipment are all available; the beach is organised but not overcrowded except in the height of summer.

The approach from the village takes about 5 minutes on foot, descending the main street through the village to the beach road. The beach is accessible from the coastal road from Rhodes City; day visitors arriving by car park in the lot above the village. The northern end of the beach is quieter and has fewer organised sunbeds.

A story
The beach sits directly below the Acropolis, which creates an unusual visual dynamic: you are swimming in front of a 2,500-year-old fortified site while speedboats buzz in and out from the nearby water sports concession. The ancient Greeks would have found both the swimming and the speedboats incomprehensible, but the combination makes for an undeniably memorable setting.
