Yeni Camii, built in 1902 by the Italian architect Vitaliano Poselli, is architecturally unlike any other mosque in Greece. Its eclectic facade mixes Islamic and European elements — a wide porch with arched windows, a tile-covered dome, and stone facades that borrow from both Ottoman and Art Nouveau design — reflecting the unique status of the community it was built for.
The interior, now used as an exhibition hall, is airy and well-lit, with a central dome and galleries around three sides. Entry is free when exhibitions are running. The building sits in the central market area not far from Modiano, easy to combine with a walk through the old commercial district.
